GF-ELTI Cooling Tanks with Rotating Platform are plants connected to Heat Treatment lines and intended for the differential quenching of axial-symmetric products by immersion in an extinction liquid (water or polymer solution).
The tank is typically made of a self-bearing metal structure and filled by means of a dedicated system.
Quenching occurs thanks to the combined action of partial immersion and a shower on the surface.
The product is placed on a revolving platform and rotated. The platform is lowered down into the tank for immersion of the lower part of the product. Some spray nozzles pointing at the side walls of the rotating product and dispensing further extinction liquid are activated at the same time.
This technology is particularly suitable for the differential quenching of the railway wheel since it can quench a surface of the wheel (typically the rolling one) in a localised manner to improve its hardness and resistance to wear and fatigue without compromising the global toughness of the remaining part.
Types of treated products: axial-symmetric metal products, such as railway wheels.
