GF-ELTI Chain Furnaces are plants used for the heat treatment of round section bars and tubes.
This type of plants is characterised by a maximum operating temperature of abt. 1,100 °C and it is designed to carry out specific types of heat treatment required by the Customer (e.g. austenitisation, tempering, normalising) with excellent temperature uniformity.
The furnace typically consists of:
The plant is built according to the logic of modular prefabrication, which enables to quicken the on-site assembly stages of the plant.
The refractory linings for insulation of the parts forming the furnace can be either cast or made of fibrous materials, according to the application. Inspection doors and man-holes are placed along the side walls for access inside the furnace.
These plants are equipped with GF-ELTI Auto-Recuperative or Regenerative Burners, characterised by high speed and fixed power. Their operation is managed through a PLC and the energy supply is kept under constant control by changing the ON and OFF times, to which every single burner is subject.
Open-flame burners are arranged along the head walls of furnaces.
The bars or tubes to be treated are put into the furnace one by one through the inlet roller way and stopped in a suitable position where they can be picked up by dedicated shifting-lifting devices moving the bars or tubes onto proper shaped support guides. After being loaded into the furnace, bars or tubes are pushed by the teeth of the chains on a rolling surface having a slightly positive slope. At the end of the furnace, dedicated shifting-lifting devices move the treated bars or tubes from the guides to the outlet roller way to take them out of the furnace. Proper cameras are placed on the furnace inlet and outlet side to monitor the load and unload stages inside the furnace.
This type of plants always keeps the on-the-way products rotating with respect to their own axis, thus ensuring temperature uniformity over the entire surface of the charge.
Types of treated products: round section bars and tubes, of various diameters, weights and lengths.
